The Umami Store carries two of the top LED manufacturers in the game: Fohse and Growers Choice. While Growers Choice is a tried and proven winner, Fohse is quickly making a name for themselves in the LED space. What is the difference between HID and LEDs and why is Umami loyal to LEDs? 

HID (high-intensity discharge) lightbulbs are the traditional light bulbs you have in your house. HID bulbs are filled with flammable gas and degrade quickly. LEDs (light emitting diode) are a newer lighting technology that has taken vast strides in recent years. It took some time to tweak LED lights to be ideal for growing, but that time is officially here.
