The Aries Home Garden LED Grow Light from Fohse
The requests from the home grow community for Fohse fixtures have finally been fulfilled. The Aries started with Fohse's A3i model - the most powerful and most efficient grow light the world has ever seen - and redesigned it to suit the specific needs of the home garden.
Ideal plot of 4' x 4' to 5' x 5'
Over the past few months Fohse has listened to a surge in popular demand for a Fohse-made grow light to serve the small garden. They've heeded the call and re-designed their flagship A3i industrial model.
Introducing the Aries by Fohse, their first fixture offering exclusively for the home grower. You asked and we listened! They started with our A3i model - the most powerful and most efficient grow light the world has ever seen - and redesigned it to suit the specific needs of the home garden. Every Aries comes with all the setup components you need to start achieving your best harvests to date.
Unrivaled Efficiency.
To keep energy costs manageable, you need a fixture that maximizes watt-to-photon conversion. Like its older sibling, the A3i, the Aries operates at a remarkable PPE OF 3.0 - 3.3 μMOL/JOULE depending on what spectrum and brightness you choose with your Fohse Central Control unit.
Make a Friend Out of Heat.
Unlike obsolete plasma grow lights the Aries has no ‘Infrared Spike’ in its spectrum, meaning drastically less heat radiating down on your canopy.
Less A/C.
Without the IR Spike cooking your upper canopy, you’ll need far less cooling to compensate in order to keep your LSTs in an optimal range.
Even Warmth.
A reduction in radiative heat and chilled air compensation makes for a much more even temperature throughout your upper to lower canopy.
More Growth.
An even canopy temperature promotes more RuBisCO reactions down your canopy, leading to more intra-canopy flower development.
*A central control unit is required to operate the Aries (each unit can operate 100 fixtures)

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the light footprint?
A: The Aries LED grow light is best suited for a 4x4 plot. The Aries swiveling light bars all you to come up with custom footprints. Use a PPFD meter to figure out how to best optimize your swiveling light bars.
Q: What is the recommended height / canopy distance?
A: We recommend finishing your flower 3 feet away from the fixture at full power on the "Autumn" spectrum setting. This is only a suggestion and we recommend using a PPFD meter to dial in your perfect height.
Q: What is the plug type?
A: Type B, 3-pin plug. This is the standard plug in the US and plug converters are available at your local hardware store.
Q: Can the Aries be used in a vertical setting?
A: It sure can!
Q: Can it go in a 4x4 tent?
Absolutely! Reflective walls will help increase light penetration in the canopy even more.
Q: How many diodes are there?
A: 2,816
Q: What voltage does the Aries run on?
A: The Aries operates on a standard 110V. It can run a 277V but that requres a DIY swap which voids the fixtures warranty
Q: How many Amps does it use?
A: 5.82 Amps (640W / 110V = 5.82 Amps)
Q: How should I hang the Aries?
A: Hanging instructions and hardware are included with each Aries
Q: How do I clean my Aries?
A: We recommend spraying it down with a 2% bleach-water solution and then rinsing down with a hose. The fixture is certified IP67 so it is safe from water intrusion.
Q: How many Aries Fixtures can I link to my central control unit?
A: Up to 100.
Q: Do I need a surge protector?
A: The Aries has two internal surge protectors and line filler circuits so no extra surge protectors are needed.
Q: What is the Aries return policy?
A: The Aries has a three year warrenty which covers all manufactures defects. Please open a support ticket with Fohse for warrenty claim inquries
This is why Umami prefers LEDs over HIDs:
- LEDs use less electricity and are more energy efficient
HIDs produce less light and require more power to run than LEDs.
- LEDs are cheaper to operate
Our LEDs cost up to 80% less to run than equivalent HID bulbs.
- LEDs produce significantly less heat
Plants are sensitive to heat and do very poorly in temperatures above 85 degrees fahrenheit.
- Most HID grows require a lot more AC to cool down
LED's are substantially better at keeping temps in your ideal range and can reduce AC costs by 30-40%.
- LEDs output more light
The unit usede to measure light in the canopy is PPFD. LEDs are able to to put off a higher total PPFD than HID lights and LEDs even use less electricity doing it.
- HIDs are a fire risk
HID lights get extremely hot and have the potential to start a fire in your room. There are countless facilities that have burned down due to HID light fires.
- LED's don't have toxic elements
HID lights are filled with toxic gas and metal. If HIDs burst they can contanimate huge areas. LED's do not have any of these toxic elements.
- HID's need to get expensive bulbs replaced
HID's constantly need to have their bulbs replaced. This is not only a labor intensive process that delays your progress, it is also very expensive
- LEDs last longer
HID bulbs need to be changed frequently. LED lights can run 24/7/365 for years and years without ever having to be maintainted.
- LEDs continue to become more affordable
LEDs continue to get cheaper and cheaper while the technology within them gets better and better.
- LEDs allow for light spectrum manipulation
With an LED you can give the plants the perfect amount of light. The result is a higher substantially higher yield.
